We had our wonderful honeymoon at the chalet Shangri-la. Great Ski, fantastic view, cozy perfect chalet with an artistic meal and service!!! Jacuzzi outside was as perfect as the hotspring in Japan, even more romantic with those stunning panoramic view. Everything was just perfect to relax and enjoy. Thank you very much for making our honeymoon as special as possible. Ski in Chamonix was so cool. I hope Japan will also have those delicious restaurant around the ski slope...

If ever there was a holiday to remember, it must be our 2010/2011 New Years’ holiday at Chalet Shangri-La, Chamonix.
Our hostess, Trudi, assisted us prior to our trip with all the arrangements. On her recommendation, we decided to fit in as much as possible – an impossible task without her planning. From recommendations, to advice and finally all our bookings, Trudi planned and arranged our entire stay. From Ski passes, instructors, Panda club for our young son, baby sitting, a helicopter flight over the 3 countries bordering the Mont Blanc, husky sledding, wine tasting, to New Years day on the Italian side of the mountain – everything was pre-planned and booked – including our New Years eve dinner and daily menu.

Excited, but with a touch of apprehension, we left South Africa on Christmas day. Even the highest expectations would have fallen far short of what we were to experience. What an absolutely amazing week. There cannot be a more stunning chalet on the ski-slopes in Europe!!

Our ski instructors were professional, friendly and fun to be with. Thanks to Jean-Luc, Nicholas & Audrey (a snowboard babe for the boys). Then we had the most wonderful New Years’ eve party at the Chalet – accompanied by a dazzling fireworks display and a 9-course dinner.

Philippe, our chef, although guilty of causing us all to loosen our belts by the end of the stay, was an absolute star. Words cannot do justice to his culinary skills. From breakfast, through the après-ski canapés and drinks, to our lavish dinners – every meal was a masterpiece and delight, and of a consistently high standard. Nothing was too much trouble – whether making pizzas with our 5 year-old son, whipping up a last-minute lunch, or preparing our favorite meals (accompanied by superb wines). Eating was an absolute treat.

The accommodation was luxurious, beautiful and spotlessly maintained. Every conceivable luxury and accessory provided for – TV projector, movie & games room (with Wii games for the kids and movies on demand), bar, steam room, sauna, etc. etc. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts – such as taking our young son to his club in the morning, fetching him at lunchtime, feeding him in our absence, catering for last minute requests. The list goes on and on….

We have always had a policy that we never visit the same holiday spot twice. We are now prepared to break this rule….

Lieu paisible et ambiance et accueil des hôtes tellement chaleureux. Les beaux glaciers à portée des yeux, presque de la main...pour la pratique cela demande réflexion!

Playing Chopin and watching beautiful Alpes at the same time was great experience. steaming sauna after skiing was also perfect treatment. as goog as it gets.. I had most memorable vacation at the Chalet Shangrila!

With a glass of aged Bordeaux in hand, I stepped onto the Chalet porch after the New Year's eve dinner, to take in the most breath-taking mountain view I have ever seen: snow-covered Mont Blanc under a full moon. During the nine-day stay at Chalet Shangri-la, every night silken comforters hugged me to deep sleep inside the toasty cabin room; every morning I woke naturally with stamina to ski the renowned slopes of Grands Montet and Brevent; every occasion of hunger was nourished with delicious French declicacies catered by Trudi and Philippe. Stunning views of Alps, classy town of Chamonix, mouth-watering foods, wonderful gathering of friends and a first-class accomodation all made it the best vacation EVER! Au revoir for now, but I'll be back...

Christmas at the Shangrila chalet was wonderful ! This is an ideal place for relaxing and exciting holidays. The chalet is amazingly comfortable, the catering by Trudi and Philippe is great, and the mountains are very close and incredibly beautiful.
